Hey lovely readers,
The Universe’s Curveball
So, the past couple weeks have been a long ride – you know the kind, where you’re chugging along, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, thinking, “Yes! Finally, some ‘me’ time to dive into personal goals!” And then, bam, the universe throws a curveball. Suddenly, I’m roped into another project at work that’s going to hog all my attention for the next few weeks. Talk about timing, right?
Honestly, my first reaction? Frustration. I mean, why now? The team needing my help hasn’t glanced my way in months, and just as I’m about to gain back some BALANCE and prioritize my own stuff some more, they’re all, “We need you!” It felt like the universe was playing some sort of cosmic joke on me.
Time to Map It Out
But hey, after a little bit of gnashing, I decided to map out a plan. Let’s talk commute – I’m currently living a 45-minute drive from work. Not the end of the world, especially since I’ve been working from home about half the time. But here’s the kicker: for the next few weeks, my home office is a no-go zone. So, we’re talking a 1.5-hour round trip every day. Do the math, and that’s almost a full workday spent just driving in one week, multiple that by 5 total weeks. Yikes.
Reevaluating My Choices
Okay, moving on from my mini math lesson, let’s chat about lifestyle. The last few weeks? My health and nutrition haven’t exactly been top of the agenda. Picture this: random snacks, too much coffee, and a drive-thru here and there (okay, maybe more than “here and there”). I kept telling myself, “I’m too swamped for anything else.” But let’s be real – that’s a lame excuse. I mean, I’m all for treating myself to some Chick Fil A fries now and then, but blaming my poor choices on a lack of time? That’s on me.
Creative Standstill
And it doesn’t stop at food choices. My website? Neglected. Client interactions? Nada. And I’ve been missing that creative spark like crazy. The truth? I’ve had time. Time I’ve spent scrolling through social media, envying other people’s photos, and daydreaming about my own projects. But again, I played the “too busy” card. Spoiler alert: it was a bunch of baloney. Sure, we can’t do it all – there are only so many hours in the day. But it’s about making those hours count, right?
Lessons Learned
So, here’s the deal: those “wasted” hours? They could be the game-changer for my health, my mindset, and my energy levels. It’s about time (pun intended) I make smarter choices. Not just in what I eat or how I work but in how I prioritize my life and passions.
This little saga has been a wake-up call for me. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget about what really matters – our well-being, our passions, and, yes, even those personal goals we keep putting on the back burner. It’s about finding that balance, making space for what truly brings us joy, and, most importantly, being kind to ourselves in the process.
So here’s to making the most of our time, lovely readers. Let’s not wait for the universe to give us a break but create our own moments of joy and fulfillment, even amidst the chaos. We’ve got this!
With love and a dash of determination,
Amelia Anne
I feel like this too sometimes Amelia! It’s tough to strike the right balance between work and personal life- and sometimes we have to endure a temporary imbalance! I know that small habits really help my state of mind- taking daily walks, moments of quiet prayer, etc. As you know, I’m still learning too!
